I sat down with something to say and now can't remember what it was. That seems to be happening a lot lately.

So instead I will say this:

  • The Old 97's make me quite happy.

  • We move in just under a month.

  • I left for Budapest almost a year ago (August 15th will mark that anniversary).

  • My hair is responding well to my hippydome and I can now go 3-4 days without washing my hair.

  • Uncon was lovely

  • I am very unsuccessfully trying to find some sort of cart or storage system for my arts and crafts supplies that is clean and uncluttered. No one seems to have what I want for a reasonable price.

  • The Mountain Goats are coming back to Portland in October! October 21st, to be exact.
I need to be better about keeping this updated. I've been a little technophobic as of late.

Somewhere in the last week or two I grew up. I got a job. I'm pretty sure my official title is Temp, but I'm cataloging files in a warehouse. The work is pretty mindless now that I've gotten the hang of it, and they don't mind what we where or if I listen to NPR on my phone headset ALL DAMN DAY (8-5). I think Rob is probably getting sick of all of my conversations starting with either, "Ok so at work..." and, "There was this thing on NPR..." Whatever. I have a grown up job. And I'm getting paid more than I was last week, which was $0.

I've also progressively been becoming more and more of a hippie. First it was hangdrying clothes... then saving and reusing plastic bags... then trying to get my body off shampoo? I mean, you know how you get addicted to chapstick? You put it on and it relieves you until it wears off, and your "...lips hurt real bad" (N. Dynamite). And you need chapstick again. So hair has that same cyclic relationship with shampoo. So I'm trying to break the cycle by first switching to natural shampoo, then switching to baking soda and vinegar. It's still washing my hair, but it's without all the chemicals and hopefully my hair will be healthier thanks to it.

This weekend is the second annual uncon, which I'm very excited about, but don't have time to explain, since it's 7:24 and I need to leave for work.

We're gonna sail through the night sky like a pair of bottle rockets! Wednesday, July 9, 2008

So maybe we had another big old weekend love-in at our apartment for 4th of July. Whatever, these things happen.

This 4th was my first experience with home projectile fireworks. They're pretty cool, turns out. I didn't really understand what all the fuss was about when Rob was buying a small fortune's worth. Now I do. They're big and shiny and go BOOM. That's a good enough reason. On top of home projectile fireworks, we also live in the town that hosts the biggest 4th of July fireworks display west of the Mississippi, and that's pretty cool, too.

Me, Anny and Kate on the bus to the fireworks.

Bored, waiting for the fireworks to start, Anny and Kate decided to play airplane.

WE MADE THAT HAPPEN. ZOMG.

Sweet people Saturday morning.

I did a few haircuts on Saturday. This is Rob's (with a Lizzy).

Zoe's pink Mohawk I made.

Stephen is actually Harry Potter. No joke.

Pretty sparkly things.

Tonight we're going to see Hapa at the zoo, tomorrow we're going down to Corvallis, and then up to Seattle on Saturday to see Eddie Izzard!
